Hello! I’m Tristan.
As a writer and content creator, I educate and entertain internet-goers with videos about energy, geography, and the environment.
Originally from the Cotswolds in England, I grew up making videos that documented everything from school plays to family holidays. From 2019-2023 I studied Geography at the University of St Andrews, where I learned to write well and be unafraid of numbers. It turned out Geography is more than flags and maps. Since then I moved to Edinburgh to specialise with a post-graduate degree course in Energy, Society and Sustainability. . . and to enjoy as many coffees and bookshops in the city as I can.
For over 4 years, I’ve been working with content creators behind-the-scenes. I started off as a research assistant and writer for Tommo Carroll, as he grew Freethink’s Future Explored TikTok page to over 900,000 followers. I’ve since worked as a video editor for Jacob Harrell, I’ve written newsletters, articles and copy for PRISMA Photography Magazine, and I produced and publicised a show about Boudica for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In late 2023 I took everything I knew from my time in production and academia, and I founded Science Affairs, the show that highlights the science informing today’s policy. Covering everything from semiconductors to satellites, it’s the ultimate test of science communication: independently breaking down academic papers and policy documents to explain what’s going on in the world, and why it matters.
